MUFG Gives Back

Since 2013, MUFG has held an annual Global Volunteer Month subtitled “MUFG Gives Back” to encourage employees worldwide to simultaneously engage in community contribution activities. This campaign was launched to communicate our gratitude to the people all around the world who generously supported Japan's reconstruction efforts after the Great East Japan Earthquake.

In November 2017, the fifth round of the campaign took place, with approximately 10,000 employees participating in various activities in 35 countries and regions. For example, staff in Seattle and Hong Kong engaged in cleaning and greenery development in local public parks. Meanwhile, our business bases in EMEA(note) regions hosted workplace experience programs to which a total of more than 100 students were invited. To organize these programs, we stepped up collaboration with Junior Achievement, an NPO focused on youth educational assistance, in an effort to help the students better understand our business operations and what is it like to work at a bank.

Compared with similar CSR campaigns undertaken by Japanese corporations that operate globally, “MUFG Gives Back” is the largest of its kind, boasting an outstanding number of participants in each round. It also provides our employees with opportunities to be aware of a significant impact their philanthropy can make for communities surrounding their respective workplaces.
