Financial and Economic Education

MUFG provides financial and economic education as part of its community service activities. We offer a variety of programs while taking advantage of the unique characteristics as a financial group.

Workplace Experience

MUFG Bank (the Bank) provides financial and economic education through hands-on workplace experience primarily at our business locations to elementary, junior high, and high school students living in nearby areas. This program not only allows students to learn about finance, the economy, and the role of banks in society, but also gives them the opportunity to gain insights and learn new things through first-hand experience of working at a bank branch and interviewing employees about what they think is important for doing their job and what it means to work.

Outreach Classes

At MUFG, we conduct "Outreach Classes" in which our employees visit schools to deliver lessons. To contribute to improving financial literacy across different age groups, MUFG employees use various programs tailored to each age group to educate children about finance and the economy.

Program for Elementary, Junior High, and High School Students: "A Day to Think About the Future and Money"

At MUFG, the Bank, the Trust Bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS, ACOM, and Mitsubishi UFJ Asset Management conduct outreach classes for the financial and economic education program "A Day to Think About the Future and Money." These classes are based on the "Financial Literacy Map" published by the Financial Services Agency, ensuring that students in different age groups can obtain the financial knowledge they need.

Internship Program "Dynamics of the Stock Market" for Junior High and High School Students

Since 2014, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities (the Securities Business) has been offering an internship program for junior high and high school students called "Dynamics of the Stock Market." The program consists of five classes in which participating students learn about the mechanisms and functions of stocks from three perspectives: an entrepreneur, an investor, and society. Afterward, the students are asked in groups to express what they learned about the dynamics of the stock market in the form of a mock newspaper ad for the Securities business. The students then present their advertisements to the class.

Internship Program "Dynamics of the Stock Market for University Students"

Since 2019, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities has been offering an internship program for university students called "Dynamics of the Stock Market.” In this program, participating students work to solve social issues using the characteristics of stocks. The classes are conducted in a 90-minute group work format. In the first half, students learn about the functions and roles of stocks, the securities market, and securities companies. In the second half, students select the goals they want to achieve from among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and use the characteristics and functions of stocks and securities they learned about in the first half to devise solutions. At the end of the class, each group presents their solutions.

Educational Material Provision Program: "The Power of Money Series"

"The Power of Money Series" is an inquiry-based learning program developed by Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities. In addition to providing educational materials to schools, we also offer instructional guides to teachers conducting the classes. Furthermore, MUFG employees and specialized staff may participate in the classes to provide support.

“The VALUE of Money" is an inquiry-based learning program that explores positive ways to manage money through conversations and group discussions using flash cards.

Learning Program for Junior High School Students "The WILL of Money"

Learning Program for Junior High School Students "The WILL of Money"

"The Power of Money – WILL" is a program that encourages students to confront the fundamental and important question, 'What does money mean to me?' and to consider how they want to interact with money throughout their lives.

By exploring the diverse 'perspectives on money' of historical figures, students will delve into the various relationships between money and life.

Learning Program for High School Students "The CHOICE of Money"

Learning Program for High School Students "The CHOICE of Money"

"The Power of Money – CHOICE” is a program where students experientially learn about the impact of their spending choices on their own lives and the future of society through a card game.

Students will learn about the four ways to use money: 'spending,' 'saving,' 'investing,' and 'giving,' and will reflect on 'how they use their own money.' They will explore the long-term impacts and social values of their financial decisions, such as 'how much to spend on what,' and will encounter the option of purchasing financial products within the game, learning about the characteristics of these products through hands-on experience.
